Today, I played the first round of my bracket in the Heads Up Tournament sponsored by the Daniels Poker League. As the exception to the day, two of my three games where more than an hour long (with the other lasting less than the first blind session). It was a good match with me playing Greg Loggins. I managed my chips well in all three and usually had the lead, but I got caught up in a hand that hurt my stack badly to give Greg the win in the first game after well over an hour. The second game was over in under 20 min with me easily taking that one down.
The third round was as grueling as the first with me tearing Greg down and then building him back up on more than one occasion. The final hand was one for the books for sure... On the button I had 95 and I raised preflop. The flop brought 9-5-5. Feeling comfortable here I slowed down to allow Greg to get there only he must have hit since he check raised me. I just called. The turn made the board 9-5-5-Q. Greg bet out and I pushed my remaining stack (which was not alot since we were almost even before this hand)putting Greg all in. He shows a set of fives with a 4 kicker. And the game is over on a great hand (for me, no so much for Greg). Good game Greg...
Now it's off to the next bracket!
For the rest of you guys playing in the tourney from the Reed Poker League. Get with Chris S. or Chris D. to schedule your game. The schedule is flexible and open to week nights as well as weekend play. If you need to contact them call or email me and I will get you in touch with a Chris.
In case you did not know... If you win your first round bracket, you get $25 of your buyin back, and I think second bracket pays additional $50. cheers.
