RPO Event #30
This week's events started with Tuesday night's RPO Event #30 on Full Tilt. Only 4 players played the $2+1 rebuy event. Sean took a nap and joined alittle late. All players made it to the 1st break. Soon after the end of the break Jeff was busted by Matt. Then Trinity and Sean got tangled in a hand and Sean's 66 held to bust Trinity. Matt and Sean played heads up for the $36 prize. Sean eventually took Matt down and won the event.
Reed Poker League Event #8
Event #8 had 9 players show up with a couple of no-shows. We had two newcomers join us, Billy (Matt's bro) and Donnie ("Wells Fargo"). This was by far the most agressive, fast and bizarre event so far this year. We started alittle late and still finished shortly after 10pm. Let's proceed to the brutal beats section. :)
First hand was a big one when Donnie had trip Q's to beat whatever Anthony mucked. Donnie continued his rush to win a few more hands before tangling with Matt. Matt made a big raise pre-flop and got one caller, Donnie. All the chips get into the pot after the flop and Matt's AK gets rivered by Donnie flush draw. Matt finishes in 9th place.
Moments later, Adam made a raise pre-flop and Mitch called. The money gets in here too. Adam shows J3 to lose to Mitch's J10. Adam is out in 8th place.
At this point, Mitch and Donnie have most of the chips in play. However, the weren't scared to battle each other. They were heads up and the flop came K high. Mitch shoves with AK and Donnie calls w/ AJ. Runner-runner Q10 sends Mitch to the rail in 7th place. Donnie is a massive chip leader now.
Anthony short stacked from the first hand finally shoves his last $1700 in and Aris calls. Anthony felts KQ and Aris is dominated showing KJ. Well, the flop brought a J and no Q ever came. Anthony finishes in 6th place.
Play continued 5-handed for awhile because we were close to the "bubble". Trinity looks down at JJ and makes a large raise. It folds around to Billy who calls pretty quickly. The flop comes K4x and Trinity shoves it in after the flop. Billy calls and shows K4 leaving Trinity with only two outs. No J and Trinity finishes in 5th place and pissed.
Now on the bubble, Sean looks down at 99 and raises. He gets two callers and the flop brings another 9. Donnie moves all-in and and is the shorter stack in the pot. Sean feels stregth from Billy and decides to raise. Billy folds and Sean's set beats Donnie's draw. Donnie started off on fire, but fizzled to a 4th place finish.
In the money, Sean wins another pot with a set of 9's. Then Aris and Billy get involved in a hand that had a pitiful looking flop of 8-high. Aris makes a move and moves all-in only to instacalled by Billy who shows 83 for top pair. Aris shows 62 for a draw that does not hit. Aris finishes in 3rd place for his second consecutive 3rd place finish and $60.
Heads up play begins with Billy holding a considerable chip lead over Sean. Very little folding pre-flop in this one. Eventually, Sean doubles a couple of times. A key hand was when Sean hit a straight with his weak holdings 34off to win a big pot. The last hand Sean raised pre-flop with J10 and Billy called. Flop brings a J, so Sean c-bets and Billy calls. After the turn, Sean moves all-in and gets called. Billy has K-high and no river K comes. Billy finishes in 2nd place for $90. Sean wins Event #8 and $150.
Sean's consistent cashes (5/8 events) have moved him into a tie with Adam in the POY race. Matt is in 3rd place just a few points behind.
